I loved this book from beginning to end.She reminded me so much of Little thing in my childhood. That I had forgotten about..I did dent forget about the clouts round the ear that Brenda seemed to get her fair share of.Made me chuckle on many occasions whilst reading.Great bedtime read trouble was I couldn t put the book down and go to sleep.

This beautifully written book took me back to my childhood, growing up in the same town as Brenda, the poverty of the period didn t prevent the joy of living we all had, our devoted parents who did everything in their power to provide for us, developed a love we all had for them that would last us a lifetime.Strict but fare, we knew our place, and the way the story has been told, each page brings a smile of recognition to post war memories, the little sayings our parents used, the antics we all got up to flows brilliantly all through to the end. Some would say it is fiction, but it isn t, it is a history of the period and town she grew up in Its no wonder Brenda Blethyn is the treasure she is to the British people.
